Claim Audits
Insurance, Claim Audits
Independent determination of the validity of claims incurred by an insurer is frequently needed. This need might stem from a corporate governance matter and the assessment of the effectiveness of claims processing controls and procedures, or it might result from disputes with reinsurers. Many of our executives have extensive experience conducting audits of insured claims, including experience performing independent audits of insurance companies, working for insurance companies or providing outsourced services to insurance companies.
Measuring the validity of claims generally includes a determination of the applicability of coverage and verification of documentation supporting the nature and amounts of those claims. The types of claims that have been the subject of our analysis have ranged from relatively straightforward property- or warranty-related claims to complex catastrophes involving extensive property damage and substantial loss of life. We have provided reports and testimony resulting from our audits to a variety of arbitration tribunals.
