Michelle Avery, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Veris, addressed
attendees of the International Association of Insurance Receivers 2010 Insolvency Workshop, April 21-23 in Miami, FL. She spoke on “Permitted Practices,” alternative methods of calculating an insurer’s assets or liabilities that differ from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) accounting manuals but have been approved by the insurance regulator based on special circumstances, and means by which viable companies can survive and overcome temporary financial difficulties.
