Annual Intern Community Service Project
June 27, 2008
Employees and summer interns from Veris Consulting, LLC participated in their annual summer community service event on June 27th. This year Veris partnered with Hearts & Hammers, a volunteer home repair program that serves low-income homeowners, particularly persons with disabilities and the elderly.
Throughout the day, the team painted a significant portion of the home, resurfaced the outside patio, made electrical and fixture repairs and enhanced the home’s outward appearance with yard work.
Although the day was long and hot, the Veris employees made a big difference in the quality of living for one family in Reston and that made the experience worth it.
The homeowner’s were present during all the repairs and even chipped in by cooking a hearty lunch for the volunteers. A good time and memorable experience was had by all!
18th Annual Lawyers Have Heart 10K
June 14, 2008
Again this year, Veris sponsored the Lawyers Have Heart 10K Run and Fun Walk benefiting the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association on the Georgetown Waterfront. In addition to sponsoring the event, a team of Veris runners and walkers participated in the 10K and Fun Walk, and placed well in the corporate division.

Red Bank Office Volunteers at Food Bank

Individuals from the Red Bank, OH office volunteered their time during the holiday
season at the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Staff spent the afternoon
sorting and packing food that had recently been donated by individuals and organizations

Columbus Office Serves Lunch to Those in Need
December 2007
On December 11th and 18th, Brent Simer, Beth Markin, Dana
Williams and Kristan Potts from the Columbus, OH office volunteered at Faith Mission
Homeless Shelter, serving lunch to men, women, and families in need. Under the direction
of Chef Gary, featured in the picture below, the four Veris volunteers served over
300 meals.
Columbus Office Hosts Holiday Party at Deshler Elementary
December 20, 2007
The Columbus, OH office sponsored a holiday party at Deshler Elementary on Thursday,
December 20th, for Mr. Grant’s fifth grade class. Deshler has many children who
are in financial need, so for this reason, the Columbus staff organized this special
celebration for the students.
The party consisted of winter themed activities, such as a crosswords, word searches,
and trivia games. The children were placed into teams and intensely competed to
earn the most points. The highlight of the party was when each student was given
a surprise present of art supplies. For a treat, sugar cookies were distributed
for the students to ice themselves. Judging by the smiles and laughter, the children
had a great time and were extremely appreciative.
Veris Adopts Two Families from Hutchison Elementary School

Continuing the annual tradition, Veris adopted two families from a local elementary
school in Herndon, VA to assist in gift giving during the holiday season. Gifts
were bought for the family using funds donated by Veris staff.
Capital Area Food Bank

Veris kicked off the holiday season by reaching out to the local DC community, spending
the day volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank. Individuals from the Reston,
VA office donated their time to sort canned and boxed food which was later distributed
to local shelters, after school programs and other hunger initiatives. The Capital
Area Food Bank is the largest, public nonprofit hunger and nutrition education resource
in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. For more information, visit

Columbus Office Participates in Accounting For Kids® Day
November 7, 2007
The Columbus, OH office joined thousands of other CPAs throughout Ohio by volunteering
for the Accounting For Kids® day, a program designed to teach children real-world
money concepts they can use throughout their lives – investing, saving and managing
financial risk.
This year, Veris employees volunteered to teach a fifth grade class at Deshler Elementary,
an inner city Columbus school. The kids had a lot of fun playing the simulated 10-year
stock game and learning new concepts like “stocks”, “dividends”, “portfolio” and
“diversification”. At the end of the two hour session, it was tough to determine
who had more fun: the volunteers or the kids watching their ‘portfolios’ grow.
Columbus Office Participates in Disaster Relief Campaign
September 6, 2007
Members of the Columbus, OH office volunteered for a disaster relief campaign to
assist Findlay, OH residents to cleanup after the Blanchard River broke causing
devastating floods reported as the worst in nearly a century. Thousands of people
were displaced, and many homes destroyed.
The team started their morning with a home cleanup for a very appreciative senior
citizen whose garage had been steeped in two feet high flood waters at the height
of the flooding. In the afternoon, the team cleaned and sanitized cots and chairs
at a Red Cross Shelter set up in the Findlay Cube Arena.
Red Bank Office Participates in Service Day

Staff in Veris’ Red Bank office dedicated their time to sprucing up a local house
that is part of HABcore, a local non-profit organization. HABcore provides housing
and supportive services in a family-like setting to low income persons or those
who are homeless, disabled or unable to care for themselves. For more information,

17th Annual Lawyers Have Heart 10K

For the second consecutive year, Veris Consulting, LLC sponsored the Lawyers Have
Heart 10k to support The American Heart Association and The American Stroke Association.

Capital Currency Workshop

Accounting Consultants of Veris participated in the Capital Currency Workshop to
help local Girl Scouts in the DC Metropolitan region earn their Financial Literacy

The Columbus, OH office of Veris Consulting, LLC participated in a holiday toy drive
that provides gifts to children in Franklin County. The Columbus, OH office regularly
donates its time to youth-related volunteer efforts in the local Columbus area.

First Annual "Intern Service Project"
June 23 & 30, 2006
Members of the Veris Consulting, LLC 2006 Intern Class and staff volunteered their
time at the Ronald McDonald House in Falls Church, VA. Volunteers made dinner for
the current residents of the house and also assisted in maintenance projects around
the facility. The Northern Virginia Ronald McDonald House is located on the campus
of INOVA Fairfax Hospital and offers a home-away-from-home for seriously ill children

16th Annual Lawyers Have Heart 10K
June 10, 2006
Veris Consulting, LLC sponsored the Lawyers Have Heart 10K Run and 3K Walk in Washington,
DC to support The American Heart Association. In addition to sponsorship, Veris
also was represented by runners and walkers at the event. Veris finished second
in the Coed Team - Corporation Division with a team time average of 42:26. Winners
are based on the top four runners’ scores on each team. For more information, visit

Company-Wide Volunteer Day
November 21, 2005
A group of 36 individuals from Veris donated their time to Community Family Life
Services, headquartered in Washington, DC. The group spent the day at a group home
in Northeast Washington providing maintenance, repairs and cleaning efforts for
the residents. Community Family Life Services gives people living in poverty and
homelessness the tools they need to move toward permanent economic and social self-sufficiency.
