Veris 2010 Holiday Service Projects
December, 2010

Each year employees of Veris Consulting Inc. participate in various service projects during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year. In 2010, Veris participated in an even greater number of charitable and community service projects than we have in previous years. In 2010 our holiday service projects included:

One Warm Coat

One Warm Coat – Veris supported the One Warm Coat organization through the DC Village Shelter. Veris employees donated gently used men’s, women’s and children’s coats, as well as monetary donations to this worthy program.

Embry Rucker Community Shelter – As in previous years, Veris raised funds to supply the residents of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter with lunches during the holiday season. Veris employees raised grocery money by donating at least a quarter each time a cup of coffee or soft drink was consumed during the Holidays. Staff members also assembled lunches for delivery to shelter residents.

Toys for Tots

Toys-for-Tots – Once again, Veris participated in the Toys for Tots campaign. Veris employees donated new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages.

Adopt-a-Family – As in years past, the Reston, VA and Red Bank, NJ offices of Veris “adopted” several families and provided them with holiday gifts that they otherwise could not enjoy.

Veris Partners with Junior Achievement
Fall, 2009

Serving Lunch

During the fall semester of 2009, members of Veris’ staff will partner with Junior Achievement to provide educational mentoring to elementary aged children at Forest Edge Elementary School in Reston, VA.

Junior Achievement is the largest and fastest growing economic and business education non-profit which is dedicated to teaching kids, K-12, about financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship. JA places business and community volunteers into the classroom with a curriculum that is hands-on and engaging, both for the kids and the volunteers.

Veris is proud to be partnering with Junior Achievement and looks forward to being a part of the mentoring program in the upcoming months

Hearts and Hammers
July 17, 2009

This summer Veris employees continued their partnership with Hearts and Hammers and spent a service day providing home maintenance and improvement to a local Reston individual. Hearts and Hammers is a volunteer home repair program that serves low-income homeowners, particularly persons with disabilities and the elderly.

Throughout the course of the day, the team spent time cleaning the house and painting a large area of the home’s interior. While working, the team had the opportunity to get to know the homeowner more. The volunteers and the homeowner were very happy with the work and improvements to the home- a job well done by all!

Veris Adopts Two Families from Hutchison Elementary School
December, 2008

As they have done for several years, Veris adopted families from a local elementary school to assist in gift giving during the holiday season. Gifts were bought from staff donations for two separate families from Hutchison Elementary School.

Celebration of Giving and Sharing
December 12, 2008

Continuing the holiday service initiatives, Veris participated in Volunteer Fairfax’s, “Celebration of Giving and Sharing” program held at Hutchison Elementary School in Herndon, VA. The program was designed to teach the students the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community. Veris staff helped the students make crafts and thank-you notes which will be distributed to various organization in need in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
